Benjamin Moore Calypso Blue

Happy Hues-day friends!  Welcome to “Favorite Paint Color” day.  Every Tuesday a favorite paint color is featured.  Today’s color is Benjamin Moore Calypso Blue, and I’m seriously crushing on this one.

Most of the favorite paint colors have been somewhat subdued, but my blog pal Kathy over at Petticoat Junktion requested some bolder colors in the series.  This one’s for you, Kathy!  I got to see her and some of my other blog buddies over the weekend at Haven, a conference for DIY and home decor bloggers.  I’ll be sharing more about it all in an upcoming post, so stay tuned!

Calypso Blue 727 is a rich teal with strong blue and green undertones. It’s reminiscent of the deep turquoise waters found in the Caribbean Ocean.

  • Undertones: Blue, Green
  • Where to Use: Walls, trim, accent wall, furniture

From Lonny Magazine, here it is in a small bathroom. In many cases, people are afraid to use bold colors in a small space, but I say to go for it.  You can see how much impact it made here.  It contrasts beautifully with the white fixtures and beadboard.

It’s also a great color for this hutch, from The Handmade Home.  I love the bright yellow flowers sitting on the shelves.  The hutch brings a nice punch of color to an otherwise very neutral space.

My friend Amy at Eat, Sleep, Decorate used it to transform her front door from basic black to a very welcoming entrance the says welcome.  I love it.

Over at A Delightful Design, a dining room was transformed when it was changed from orange to Calypso Blue.  It looks gorgeous with the wood floor and white trim.

This dresser looks great painted in the Calypso Blue.  I love almost any piece of furniture painted in this shade.  It makes such a wonderful accent color.

How about you?  Are you in love with turquoise as much as I am?  I could seriously paint every piece of furniture in our house this shade.

And do you like bold colors or more muted colors better?  Let me know if you have any color that you’d like to see featured on the “favorite color” series.

Thanks so much for dropping by!

  1. Angie, I didn't know what your comment meant on my post last night. Was afraid you had an incriminating photo of me from Haven 😉 This is much better. Yes the Calypso Blue is beautiful. The color is very similar to my piece!
