A Tale of Two Night Stands

Hello, friends!  Today I have a tale of two night stands for you.  They didn't begin their lives as night stands. Their early lives were more exciting than that.  They started out as desks in the original military-type housing in the town I live and grew up in, Oak Ridge, Tennessee.  More recently, they were used as storage in someone else's garage and had become sad, oil-stained, and neglected.

Now they have a new lease on life as our night stands.

My night stand.  I decorated it with some more feminine items and a basket for storage.

Favorite Paint Color ~ 2014 Trends

Hello, friends!  Welcome to Huesday Tuesday!  If you're new here, each Tuesday there's a different favorite paint color featured.

Each year Benjamin Moore chooses a "Color of the Year" from their palette .  The color for 2014 is called Breath of Fresh Air, #806.  Don't you love that name?  I know I could use a breath of fresh air on most days.

Hall bath renovation reveal and details

Hello, friends! Today I'm sharing a complete reveal of our hall bathroom that was remodeled a few weeks ago.  I finally got the Christmas decor out of this space and added some wall hangings and took some photos on a recent sunny day.

An amazing transformation of a 1964 bathroom from drab to fab. Lots of great bathroom remodeling ideas.

How to revive wood furniture without refinishing it

Hello, friends.  I hope you're having a great year so far and making progress in reaching those new year's goals that we all set at the start of each new year.  I've done some organizing and exercising and freshening up around the house, and made a few minor updates to the blog.  So that's all good.

Ashwood Moss Painted Corner Cabinet and a new wax that I love!

Hello, friends. I've got a furniture reveal for you today.  It's a nice corner cabinet, probably from the 80's, that got a facelift with paint.

For this project, I used a small portion of a sample pint of Benjamim Moore #1484 Ashwood Moss in eggshell finish. Then I lightly distressed the edges and gave the piece a coat of Clapham's Beeswax Polish.  Read more about the polish below.

Deep freeze edition ~ Favorite Paint Colors

Hello, friends!  Like most of the country, we're in a deep freeze here in the ridge.  And one of my goals is to get my favorite paint color series started again this year on Tuesdays.  So I thought it would be fun to kick off 2014 Huesday Tuesday with some favorite wintery colors.

All of these are Benjamin Moore colors.  I'm biased, but it's the best paint and the most beautiful colors.

AND something else I'm starting this year is my online color consulting business!  Go here to find out more about it!

Although there are quite a few colors with wintery names, I narrowed it down to 4 that complement each other.  I hope you like them!

Creative ways to organize jewelry

Hello, friends! I hope your new year is going great so far. I personally am vowing to stay more focused this year.  I recently shared my focused goals for 2014 here.

Over the weekend, my focus was doing some organization in our bedroom, specifically my jewelry. I seem to have an addiction to the inexpensive variety.  But, a girl has to have a little bling, right? Right. And I get my jewelry from Target, Kohl's, Belk, TJ Maxx, etc., so it's ok to have lots of it. Sorry to disappoint any potential theives, but mine wouldn't be worth stealing.

How clever! Different vintage items repurposed for jewelry organization. Love it.
