Color Crush - Retro Reds

Color Crush - Retro Reds

Somehow red seems to make it into many rooms in our house. I'm uncontrollably drawn to it like a moth to a flame. It welcomes guests with its presence on our front door. It graces the kitchen in multiple ways. And it has even snuck into our coat closet in a very helpful manner. Today I'm sharing some of the red accents in our house along with a collage of the most fun red items anywhere and ideas for using it in your decor.

Benjamin Moore Raspberry Truffle Front Door

When we bought our house the front door was white. I painted it in Benjamin Moore Raspberry Truffle for a welcoming punch of color.

Radio Flyer wagon on a front porch at Christmas. Love it!!

Last summer my dad gave me his old Radio Flyer wagon. It was his when he was a little boy in the 1940's. My uncle restored it completely a few years ago and it looks as good as new. I'm so glad to have it and it's such a fun addition to our front porch.

Radio Flyer Wagon on a front porch

Summertime on the front porch means the Radio Flyer wagon has colorful flowers and a summery feel.

Red metal glider on a porch overlooking the mountains. Swoon!

This is not my porch, but who wouldn't love to have this view? And the Red Glider on that deep wooden porch makes it the stuff that dreams are made of!

Roses in a red French flower bucket. Beautiful!

I love fresh flowers and found these beauties at Costco a while back. I popped them into a red metal flower bucket and they were perfect in front of the family room fireplace. Now the red bucket holds umbrellas in our coat closet.

Lovely guest bedroom with red accents.

Our guest bedroom has red accents throughout the year, and even more during the holidays. The red checked curtains and dust ruffle are there year round. I added the snowflake quilt and red throw pillow for Christmas.

Red painted wooden stool in a coat closet. Great idea!

A punchy red painted wooden stool is the perfect addition to our recently purged and organized coat closet. It's nice to be able to sit down and put on my shoes right there.

Red transferware and vintage linens. Johnson Brothers Britain Castles.

I've got a weakness for dishes, especially these red transferware ones. They're nice to use at Christmas and Valentines and can also be used year round. I like to layer them with my white charger plates and white dishes and add some vintage napkins in to the mix. Just a touch of red goes a long way here.

French linens and red Le Creuset. Love it.

In our kitchen, my favorite red cast iron Dutch oven adds a pop of red. And I love our vintage French dish linens. Most of the ones I've accumulated have red accents. I guess red is the perfect accent color for kitchens of any era.

Red tole tray in a kitchen.

Next to our sink I have this red painted tray for a touch of color. One of my former neighbors who was an antiques dealer gave it to me before she passed away so it's very special to me. I think of her and smile whenever I look at it. Thanks, Joan!

Red Smeg Refrigerator. So cute! I would love to have one of these!

In my dream kitchen, there is a red refrigerator just like this one. Isn't that gorgeous?

It isn't totally related, but this is one of my favorite pictures that I've taken. I love the red sign and bicycle. Since we're talking about red.....

And here are some of the most amazing retro red items I've ever seen. I had a lot of fun searching for these items. To say that my wish list has grown by leaps and bounds would be an understatement! I already have one of the red stool/stepladders, and the purse is one that I own and love. But I'd be happy to add any of these items to my collection of red things. Which one is your favorite? Do you have red accents in your home?
