Fresh Peach Ice Cream Recipe With Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

I’ve made homemade ice cream many times before but this was my first time using peaches. Now I’ll be making it every year. It’s yummy and easy to make.

Fresh local peaches are something my family loves to eat in any form. Whether it’s in a cobbler, grilled, in a jam, or simply peeled and sliced, they’re always a favorite here.

Sometimes we’re able to find good peaches at the grocery store, but the best ones around here are usually at the farmer’s market or a roadside stand. The most recent place I’ve bought them from is The Peach Truck. Have you ever heard of them? They’re based out of Nashville and have the most beautiful and delicious peaches along with jams, salsas, and much more.

They have various booths around Nashville and also make stops around the south and east. You can order your peaches and pick them up at one of their stops our have them delivered directly to you if you’re not in the area, just like Harry & David does for pears. If you’re interested in trying them you can use my special referral link and get $5 off your order here: The Peach Truck.

For this simple peach ice cream recipe, I used my Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. We bought it several years ago and really haven’t used it much at all until this year. Not sure why, but I’m so glad we’ve finally started using it. It’s so easy to use!

I made strawberry ice cream a few weeks ago with it using strawberries that my daughter picked. It was all gone before I could photograph it for a recipe post. Update: the recipe can be found here: Cuisinart Strawberry Ice Cream Recipe

Homemade Peach Ice Cream Made

Yield: 10 1/2 cup servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Additional Time: 8 hours
Total Time: 8 hours 35 minutes

This creamy, classic homemade peach ice cream will soon become one of your favorite summer treats. Using a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker means that making it will be a breeze too!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sliced fresh peaches, peeled (you could also use thawed frozen peaches)
  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

NOTE – Be sure to chill the freezer bowl 8 hours or overnight

  1. In a small bowl, combine the peaches with the lemon juice and 1/2 cup of sugar. Gently stir and allow the peaches to soak in the juices for 2 hours. Strain the peaches, reserving the juices. Mash or puree the peach slices.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, use a hand mixer on low speed to combine the milk and remaining sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 or 2 minutes. Stir in the the heavy cream, reserved peach juices, half of the mashed peach slices, and vanilla.
  3. Cover mixture with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 - 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Turn on the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker, pour the mixture into the freezer bowl, and let mix until thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes. Five minutes before mixing is completed, add the remaining mashed peaches and let mix incompletely. The ice cream will have a soft, creamy texture. I recommend storing it in this container that has thousands of 5 start reviews: Homemade Ice Cream Freezer Tub

Notes

If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and place in the freezer for about 2 hours. Remove from freezer about 10 minutes before serving.

Some have reached out to let me know that this recipe will overflow slightly in the smaller (1/5 qt) ice cream maker. If you have this size machine, reduce the amount of milk by 1/3 cup and cream by 2/3 cup. Cut the amount of peaches to 2 cups.

  1. I am so excited to try this recipe. I absolutely adore the peach milkshakes at Chik Fil A but this seems so much more healthful (in moderation :). Thank you so much for your recent visit to my blog. I apologize for my slow response. I have been completing a large home improvement project. You have such a lovely blog. Have a wonderful week!

  2. Plan on trying this tomorrow. Have some frozen peaches left over from summer. Glad to see a recipe that doesn't have to be cooked. However, a question: Shouldn't you chop the peaches up a bit? Thank you.

  3. When checking out the ingrediants for tho=is Gergia Peach ice cream. The only fruit listed was strawberries so I'm a little confused. Are we supposed to substitute peaches because they are a very different type of fruit to work with esppecially because of the juiciness. This recipe sounds great, but I wold appreciate some help.
    Thanks, Duane

    1. Hi Duane,

I'm sorry about that. I updated all of my recipes recently to make them printable and it looks like I made an error! I've corrected it and everything is listed as it should be now. Thanks for letting me know.

  4. I made this Peach Ice Cream recipe
last night using my 2 qt. Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. It was my first time
using this machine. The mixture was at least a couple of inches below the rim (machine instructions said to
leave at least 1/2″ space from the
rim), it started overflowing about 5
    minutes before the machine was
done. I turned it off and cleaned up what little bit had overflowed. Once I did that, I poured the rest into a
container and let everyone have their ice cream. It was very much a soft
    serve consistency. Although the
peaches were ripe, I couldn’t taste a whole lot of peach flavor. I can taste the peaches better today. Maybe it
needed to let the flavor seep into ice cream. It was delicious, but I’ll be
sure to only fill the container no more than halfway next time.

  5. Made the Peach Ice Cream Recipe this morning. Here are a few observations and comments:
    – Peaches are juicy. Their released liquid can change a recipe. I didn’t see any notes regarding the Cuisinart capacity. Two links return the 1.5 qt model. The ingredient volume once it begins to freeze exceeds the machines limit (Note P Knight’s comments above using the 2.0 qt. mode). I was unable to add the reserved sliced peaches to the machine for the last five minutes and had to incorporate them into the frozen mix in a bowl. Recommend rewrite of recipe or freezing in two batches.
    – I lightly mashed the reserved peaches to a chunky size to improve distribution.
    – Two Tablespoons of Brandy was added to improve frozen scoopability.

P Knight – All ice cream made in the Cuisinart machines is soft at the end. Move the finished product to a container(s), place in freezer for a bit. Also, letting the mixed ingredients ripen in the fridge overnight prior to freezing will improve flavor. Works for all flavors. This recipe makes a well flavored ice cream.

  6. your recipe says to put the mashed peaches in with the cream and milk mixture and then freeze that. but then at the end you say to add the reserved mashed peaches the last 5 minutes and the ice cream maker. so I’m confused if I’m supposed to take just a little bit of mashed peaches out to save them at the end or do I not add any of the mashed peaches in the original mixture?

    1. Hi Danielle, thanks for calling that to my attention. I updated the recipe a couple of days ago and made an error. Add half of the mashed peaches at the beginning and the other half at the end. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  7. Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that I had an overflow today in my 1.5 quart Cuisinart ice cream maker. Not terrible, but messy and I used your alternate instruction for the smaller machine. I think the volume has to be reduced again by a half cup or so. Also, the top of my reserved peaches turned brown overnight in the fridge. I’m thinking that they should be in a right-sized container that doesn’t allow contact with air, or it might help to cover the surface with plastic wrap to keep the air off. I still used them, we’ll see how it tastes tomorrow at the family dinner. Overall, seems like a great recipe for my daughter’s overloaded peach tree!

    1. Hi Sue. Thanks for the feedback! I adjusted the amounts again so hopefully that will prevent overflow in the future. I hope you enjoyed the ice cream as much as we do.
