Road Tripping ~ Southern Bloggers Conference

Camera?  Check.

Lip gloss?  Check.

Ready to learn, network, and get some great swag?  CHECK!

In a little more than 2 weeks, I’ll be going to my first blogger conference, the Southern Bloggers Conference, in beautiful Raleigh, NC.  I’ve wanted to go to one of these for a while, and got a lucky break when I won a ticket giveaway from the talented and funny Karianne at Thistlewood Farm.  Thanks, Karianne!

No excuses.  My  room is booked, camera is charging, hair appointment is made (can’t forget that!), and I’ll soon be driving down the interstate to meet and greet and get lots of great ideas.

And that drive should be a pretty one too!  October in the mountains is heavenly!

I’m excited about some of the sponsors that are going to be there, especially spoonflower.  They are a design-your-own fabric/wallpaper company that prints it for you!

I had heard of them a while back, and can’t wait to learn more about them.  I’ve always been more artsy than crafty, so this really intrigues me.  And there have been so many times I’ve found just the right fabric or wallpaper and the color was wrong.  I’m interested to see exactly what they’re about and how it all works.  I’ll definitely take good notes and share everything I learn about them.

I’m also looking forward to trying out La Craie paint from Maison Blanche Paint Company.  It’s a new chalk-type paint, made in the USA, with lots of nice colors.  The chart above shows all of the shades available.

I’ve tried the Annie Sloan paint, and the Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint, and look forward to using this one as well.  I always love using different paints and learning about their unique qualities.  There’s enough room for all of them in this great big world, especially since each painted piece has it’s own personality and story to tell.

There are lots of other great sponsors such as The Container Store, Hometalk, Arhaus, Fish Foam, Purdy, Sandy Hall Creations, and Vera Bradley, but so far these are the two that I’m most excited about.

I can’t wait to meet in person some of the talented women behind a few of my favorite blogs.   Here’s the list of speakers who’ll be sharing things like how to grow your blog, getting sponsors, tips for thrifting, and more.

Rhoda from Southern Hospitality

KariAnne from Thistlewood Farm

Kelly from Eclectically Vintage

Annie from Maison Blanche

Kristen from Sophia’s Decor

Heather from At the Picket Fence

Brittany from Pretty Handy Girl

And there are lots of other blogger friends that will be there that I am really looking forward to meeting face to face.

I must admit that I’m just a little anxious about it all.  I’m somewhat introverted, and a bit nerdy, and a tad insecure.  I guess I just need to remind myself that we’re all just normal people doing what we love, and putting on the web for the world to see!

So now all that’s left to do is count down the days, pack my suitcase, and fill up the car.  Road trips are always fun in the fall.  Wish me luck!

XOXOX,

Angie
