Fall Colors in the Smoky Mountains

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

The girls were out of school for fall break this week and the Mr. took Friday off from work.  We took a quick trip to the Smoky Mountains to enjoy some of the fall colors before they’re all gone and it’s wintery gray.

I snapped a few pics and thought I would share them.

Meanwhile back at the ranch house, I’m halfway finished repainting our guest bedroom and will hopefully have some pics of the finished room in the next week.  There’s still some caulking to do and baseboards to paint, and I’m really slow at finishing projects, but I’ve got company coming at the end of November and must have it finished by then!

Here’s some of my pictures.  Do you have a favorite?  I do.

This lonely little leaf was just floating down the creek.

The creek was filled with newly fallen leaves.

The flashy red leaves are some of my favorites.  I used photoshop lightroom to “turn down” all the colors except the red in this shot.  My daughter said it looks like it’s surrounded by snow.

The view from an overlook near Laurel Falls.  The bright blue sky was gorgeous against the yellow foliage.

Another floating leaf.  This one was casting a shadow on the rock underneath the water.

A vintage Dodge pickup truck.  We accidentally found this truck last winter when were staying in a nearby inn and went out for an afternoon drive.  I wanted to come back and photograph it with the fall colors in the background.  You can read about the wrong turn and our adventures and see a few more pictures from our visit last winter here.

Have a great Sunday and a wonderful week.

Thanks for stopping by.

XOXOX,

Angie

  2. Such gorgeous pics! I love the old truck in the bottom one. We are heading to Townsend this weekend to camp. It is going to be so cold, but I hope a little color will be left for us to enjoy.
