2013 Bucket List

Happy New Year, friends!  I hope 2013 brings you health and happiness.

I'm not a big fan of New Year's resolutions because they always seem to be a disappointment to me.  Sure, I have goals both personally and professionally, but a list of resolutions always seems to linger over me like a weight on my shoulders.

This year I thought I would try a different approach and call it a bucket list.  I can't explain why, but it just sounds so much more positive a do-able than a list of resolutions. Hopefully at the end of the year I'll have a good list of completed projects similar to the list of my 2012 favorites.

~Bucket List~

*PURGE.  This is my biggest one.  We have a storage room and a couple of storage closets in the basement that have been ignored for the last few years and it's time to tackle them and get them under control.  I don't expect overnight results because it took them a while to get this bad.  It's definitely at the top of our list.

*Finish the conversion of our office to a craft room.  As you can see from the picture above, it's been painted and partially cleaned out.  The floor is primed and it has gotten a topcoat of floor paint that's a different color than what you see here.  Hopefully I'll have pictures of a finished room by the end of January.  I think that's a realistic goal.  My inspiration for this room is here.

The Mr. used this room as his office until about 4 years ago and it has quite a bit of paperwork still in here that needs to be purged.  After that happens, we just have to move the creative stuff in there and get crafty.  Easy enough, right?

*Hall bath remodel.  This is another "need to" situation, like our master bath was last year.  In a 50-year-old house, you can only put these things off for so long.  We'll be doing this project sometime this year.

*Garage purge.  In several of my previous posts I've mentioned things that I have in my garage.  Some of them have been used in the house and some are still in there.  Old doors, a vintage drug store window, an antique iron bed, a Hoosier cabinet, a China cabinet, old wooden's quite an interesting place.  And truthfully, it's a little scary in there too.

Most of the items stored in there need some type of work done to them and I just haven't gotten it done yet.  I would love to have enough of the items moved out of there so that we could park at least one of our cars in there.  That leads to the next item on my list:

*Finish my current projects before I start any new ones.  This is a tough one for me.  I'm always scouting thrift shops, estate sales, and garage sales looking for treasures.  I try to only buy things that don't need work, but sometimes I just can't pass up an item that needs a little something done to it.  Maybe I just need to learn to say no!

This is just a small bucket list, but hopefully I can check off all of these items by the end of the year.  As you can see, purging seems to be a common theme here.  It's a good thing we have a truck because I'm going to be hauling off lots of unneeded stuff this year.

How about you?  Do you have resolutions?  Goals?  Lists for 2013?  I'd love to know!

Thanks for stopping by.

And once again,  HAPPY NEW YEAR!
