Our girls were both on spring break last week and we were able to get out of town for a few days and unwind. We stayed at one of our favorite places, Kiawah Island, South Carolina. It's a nature lover's paradise with lots of dunes, beaches, marshes, wildlife and bike trails. While we were there we went kayaking, rode bikes, and visited Charleston and Folly Beach which are less than an hour away. I hope you don't mind me sharing a few of my favorite photos today!

7 Not So Great Things to be grateful for

Getting a little personal here today. I'm taking a detour from my usual pretty pictures of home decor and DIY ideas and talking about gratitude. Not for the things that are obvious, but just the opposite. The not so great things.

Lately I've been doing a little repainting and rearranging around the house and a lot of dreaming about future projects. I recently shared a few before and after photos of some rooms in our house (in this post) so you know there's always something going on here in this 50-year-old home. I love the modern farmhouse style and would really like to add more of it to the house. It's such a cozy, welcoming style. Here are some of my favorites that would be perfect for a modern farmhouse style family room.

Powder Room Plans + Tales of our very own Fixer Upper

Rome wasn't built in a day. It took many years. And it has also taken many years to get our house looking the way it does today. There are still plenty of projects to do here, but today I'm looking at some of the progress we've made and reminding myself that updating a 50-year-old house takes time.
