Things to see and do in Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina scenery. Such a gorgeous old turquoise door! ~ Postcards from the Ridge

Charleston is a dream come true for history lovers, architecture lovers, and photographers of all levels. Plus there are dozens of great restaurants and plenty of shopping. We've been there several times and always enjoy strolling around the city and taking in the sights. I'm sharing some of the scenes from our visit earlier this month, plus a new favorite place to eat and some fun things to do while you're there. In case you missed it, there's an entire post dedicated to some of the pretty windows with flower boxes here

Updates to our Small Entry

Our small entry has seen several different looks since we moved in almost 10 years ago. This is the only actual wall space in here, so there aren't a lot of options when it comes to decorating the space. A few days ago I added this small writing desk and it really lightened and opened up the tiny space. I even prettied up the inside of the drawer.

Basement Kitchen Inspiration Starts with a new Kohler Kitchen Faucet

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kohler. All opinions are 100% mine.

Do you have a kitchen that needs some updating? We do. While our main kitchen could definitely use some updated counters and more, the basement kitchenette is really the one that needs a facelift the most. I've never shared photos of the basement kitchen or most of that entire level of the house because we've focused our renovating efforts on the main floor. But I'm hoping to update the kitchen sometime in the future and I've put together a mood board that gives a designer look without the steep price tag with items from Lowe's.

Windows of Charleston

We just returned from spending a few days on the coast of South Carolina. We stayed in Kiawah and made day trips to Savannah, GA and Charleston. Today I'm sharing some of the pretty old windows from Charleston.

New Furniture Arrangement and Spring Decor in the Living Room

Spring Decor in the Living Room ~ Postcards from the Ridge

The 8th time's the charm. Or something like that. I'm pretty sure this is the 8th different furniture arrangement I've tried in our extremely awkward living room and it's the first one I've really, truly loved. With a wall of floor to ceiling windows, a fireplace, and 2 large openings, arranging furniture in here has given me fits since we moved in almost 10 years ago. But I recently spent a couple of days moving things around, purging pieces from the room, shopping the rest of the house for decor, and editing, editing, editing. Come on in and see how it looks now.
