One thing that will reduce stress from entertaining

Thank you BISSELL® for sponsoring this post. Check out the new BISSELL® Pet Hair Eraser to erase the fur in your place!

How to reduce the stress of holiday entertaining

It’s always nice to have family and friends over for a visit any time of the year, and even more so during the holidays. The food, the stories, and the overall warmth of the season make it a favorite for most people. But it can also be very stressful, especially if you have any guests who are what I like to call persnickety. Although we loved her dearly, my husband’s Aunt Jewel was one of those persnickety folks (middle of the photo above).

She had a heart of gold and also kept her house so clean that you could eat off the floor. So we always made sure the house was extra spic and span when we knew she was coming. Not that she would have ever said anything to us about our housekeeping skills, but we wanted it to look especially nice. She passed away several years ago but we still talk about how neat and tidy she always was. And we still try to have the house extra spiffy when we have guests.

Having a cat or dog makes it a little more difficult to keep things tidy. Our kitty likes to lay on any blanket or soft surface she can find, including the furniture.

How to reduce the stress of holiday entertaining by reducing pet hair

She’s such a cute kitty and I don’t have the heart to shoo her off of the furniture and throws. I also don’t get stressed out about it because I know I’ve got a simple solution to the hair she leaves behind.

It’s from Bissell® and is called the Pet Hair Eraser®. And that’s exactly what it does. It was designed by pet parents for pet parents and makes it easy to keep the pet hair at bay. It has specially designed attachments that remove pet hair from any surface, like the Turboeraser you see me using above. It works great on furniture as well.

Another thing I love is the LED Crevice Tool. It helps me see pet hair and other things that get trapped in the nooks and crannies around the house.

In the upright position it has a powerful edge-to-edge suction that maximizes the quick pick up of pet hair and other things like cookie crumbs and dust.

And once you’re finished, you can very easily empty the canister into the trash with the touch of a button. You don’t have to pull it out with your hands. I really love this feature. No icky dirt gets on your hands. Plus with the revolutionary tangle-free brush roller, you don’t have to pull any hair from there either. And nobody wants to spend time doing that.

Now you know how to banish the hair left behind by your pet along with some of the stress of holiday entertaining. So go ahead and invite those persnickety people over for hot cocoa and cookies. You’ll be glad you did.

Even Aunt Jewel would approve of a house that has a BISSELL® Pet Hair Eraser® Vacuum

Happy hosting!

  1. Having pets certainly does make things a little more difficult. We have two Jack Russell's and right now the female, Evie, is on heat, well this basically just means that our sitting room looks a permanent mess because I have to cover every chair and sofa with old towels. For two weeks I hope no strangers who we don't know come to visit!! It's fine with friends, they understand!!!

    1. Oh no! Hopefully it won't last too long. And I'm sure your friends understand. Our furry family members are worth every bit of extra effort! Have a great weekend! ~ Angie

    1. Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your question. It was a question, right? And although I was tempted to delete it since you didn't leave me your email so I could reply to you, I'm going to reply anyway for readers who might also have this same question. So thank you.

Let me explain. I enjoy writing for and working on this blog. I take great pride in it and strive to produce relevant content with high quality photos and writing that I hope my readers will enjoy and appreciate. It is not a hobby, but a full time job for me. And since it is my job, I must make an income or find a different job. I have a mortgage, car payment, one child in college and another will be there soon, so working without any income isn't really an option for me at this point in my life.

Each post takes me a minimum of 5 to 6 hours to produce. That includes coming up with ideas for posts, styling areas for photos, taking the photos, editing the photos, and then creating the actual post. Writing and editing the text in the post takes time as well. Then there's all the behind the scenes techy and business stuff which I won't get into but it takes many hours as well. It all adds up to a regular work week, and then some.

Brands approach me on a daily basis wanting to be mentioned here, but I turn most of them down because they're either not relevant to what I write about or I can't in good faith recommend their products. I only write about products that I believe in and that I feel like my readers will be interested in. And I always disclose that it's a sponsored post whether or not the brand requests it because it's the right thing to do (it's at the top and bottom of this post).

This is a home decor blog and I try to keep it relevant, and a vaccum cleaner fits this description. I used the vacuum cleaner several times and am sharing about my real life experience with it. Hopefully other readers with pets will appreciate this product as much as I do.

I hope this helps you understand why there are sponsored posts here occasionally. And I hope you have a great weekend.

      Thanks again.

      Angie

  2. I'm sorry you have to deal with Anonymous Jerks like that, Angie. They obviously have nothing better to do. Sure, it's great to have really fun blog posts, but I also like seeing new products that I might not otherwise learn about, good or bad. I have pets, so this is a timely post to see. I didn't realize until fairly recently that some blogs are paying jobs. And I think it's great! I used to blog years ago only on a small level about our vacations so that friends at home could see what we were doing. I couldn't believe how much time it took to put one post together! So, I really appreciate the time and energy it takes for you and others to do this on a regular basis. It's entertainment! and if now and then we get an infomercial, that's okay with me, too. Thanks, Angie!

    1. Hi Patty. It's no problem, but thank you for backing me up! I started blogging 5 years ago as a hobby when I was working outside the home and didn't make any income from it then. I also had no idea how much time it took to keep it going. My other job ended last year and now I blog full time, but my income from blogging still isn't all that much. If I figured out how much I made per hour I would probably quit because it's below minimum wage. But I enjoy doing it so it's worth the sacrifice in pay. Thanks for being supportive, and enjoy your weekend. ~ Angie

  3. My goodness. I didn't even know that such a product existed. You see, I am a kindred spirit to Aunt Jewel. I'm all about the tidy and not all about the pet hair. I just have allergies to the moon and back. Even visiting someone else's home is like torture. So this is a product I am so happy to learn about. I may buy one as a Christmas gift and will surely recommend it every chance I get. Thanks for sharing! Susie from The Chelsea Project

    1. You're so sweet, Susie! And I'm sorry you suffer from allergies! This really is a great product for pet owners to have. I hope you have a great week! Thanks for dropping by. ~ Angie

  4. What a wonderful product! I've never even heard of it before, so thank you for the introduction.

And may I say how much I appreciate this post? I know it's a sponsored post, but you've crafted it into a piece that's delightful to read and very informative–and the photos are beautiful illustrations of your thoughts. I can only imagine how much time you spent on this post. The anonymous commenter above must not realize that bloggers such as you must make a living; hopefully your reply will help them to understand. You were very kind to write out such a thoughtful reply.

    1. Thank you, Richella. You're very kind. I'm sure the commenter didn't mean anything but just didn't fully understand what goes into blogging. Thank you for leaving such a thoughtful comment. Have a great week! ~ Angie
