Our tree looks very different this year than it has for the past several years. Although I usually have it loaded with my vintage mercury glass ornaments, I went with a more rustic, cozy, farmhouse look this year. It’s good to change things every now and then.

The tree has garlands of burlap ribbon, velvet ribbon, and felt pompom. And most of the ornaments are snowflakes.

I used a plaid blanket scarf as a tree skirt, and have wrapped our presents in craft paper and other casual papers.

Here’s a closeup of some of the items on the tree. It’s a mix of handmade and store bought crocheted snowflakes with a few larger ones added for impact. There are also a few little animal ornaments scattered around the tree.

We always buy our tree at the local Boys’ and Girls’ Club and much of the proceeds help their organization. They have the prettiest Fraser fir trees.

The tree topper is a beaded snowflake. The Christmas tree pillow and straw market tote add to the cozy vibe going on around the tree.

  1. Wow! It all looks so pretty. I never thought about using a plaid scarf for a tree skirt but now my dining room tree is going to have to have one! Merry Christmas!

    1. Thanks, Shelley. Those plaid blanket scarves can be used for so many things and they're cheap! Have a merry Christmas! ~ Angie

  5. Hey Angie, I just want to curl up with a glass of warm cider (maybe with a splash of sumpin sumpin) and enjoy the warmth and comfort of that tree and the room. You've got my Christmas decorating ideas dancing in my head! Thanks for the inspiration. Hugs, Lynn
