And if you’re needing ideas for your home then you’ll love today’s post. I’m joining with 24 of my home blogging friends for a Christmas Ideas Tour and we’re sharing our favorites.

Here’s what you have to look forward to throughout this week:

fireplace mantel shelf with magnolia branches and Christmas decor

I’ve been working on our Christmas living room mantel and am sharing it for the tour today. Natural, vintage, and rustic elements are my favorite things to decorate with and the mantel is proof of this. Here, a few magnolia clusters from our magnolia tree anchor the ends of the mantel shelf.

vintage glass bottles with candles and hemlock branches

Old bottles and branch clippings are the other main ingredients of this Christmas mantel. I’ve been collecting vintage bottles for years and love to use them as vases. I simply added some hemlock branches to the smaller ones and white candles to the larger bottles for a holiday look.

A few pine cones, vintage red mercury glass ornaments, and a button garland add a bit more of a holiday look to the mantel.

fireplace mantel with grapevine wreath

For the rustic wreath, I used some grapevine that was growing wild in our back yard. I added a few hemlock branches and boxwood clippings for a simple, natural, homespun look. I’ll share a tutorial in the next few days for this wreath so be sure to sign up for our email list at the towards the bottom of the post and it will be sent to your inbox.

chunky knit christmas stockings and miniature trees

On the hearth, some miniature lemon cypress and dwarf Alberta spruce trees in tiny metal pots continue the natural theme. And the vintage corbel is one of my favorite finds. It makes a nice base for the little trees.

chunky knit Christmas stockings

I tried hanging the knit stockings from hooks on them mantel shelf, but they were too heavy and kept falling off. So I hung them from my old iron fence sections. I think I like them better there anyway. What do you think?

rosemary topiary on pedestal and plaid blanket

On the other side of the hearth, a small rosemary topiary rests on a vintage-looking pedestal and looks like a tiny Christmas tree. The red plaid throw blanket adds a pop of cozy color to the scene.

painted brick fireplace with Christmas decor

A few more magnolia clusters inside the firebox and some nandina branches on the side complete the natural look of our living room fireplace.

I promised my family I would go with more simple decor this year and so far I think I’ve succeeded!

Next week I’ll be sharing our porch and the week after that will be our entry and breakfast room. Stay tuned to see if I’m able to keep it simple!

    1. Haha, I keep trying to go simple and maybe I'll succeed this year. I think the button garland would be pretty easy to make…just time consuming. And it worked out great hanging the stockings on the ironwork. They kept falling off the mantel. Have a great week! ~ Angie

    1. Lora, yes, 1960's houses sometimes have weird layouts and ours is one of those. It's kinda cool having a fireplace in the middle of everything, but it makes furniture arranging a real challenge, lol. So glad you joined us on the tour! ~ Angie

    1. Thanks, Eileen! I'm really trying to keep it simple this year so the take down after Christmas isn't so dreadful. And those fence pieces are some of my favorite finds although I had no idea how I would use them when I bought them. Got them in Asheville a couple of years ago. Have a great week! ~ Angie
