Hello, friends! Are you ready for some fall decor inspiration? Today kicks off the first day of the 5th annual Fall Ideas Tour.

This year we have 29 home bloggers and we’re sharing our favorite ideas for your mantels, tables, and porches, as well as some wreath and DIY/craft ideas. Every day has a different topic so you’ll want to see what’s new each day.

I’ll be sharing all of them on my facebook page and my instagram. Follow me there to see them all. And be sure to scroll to the bottom of the post to see all of the bloggers and sneak peeks of their fall ideas.

If you’re visiting here for the first time today, WELCOME! You can get to know me a little better here → About Me.

Inspiration

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to start when redecorating a space. Finding a piece or an image that you love can help get you going in the right direction.

For our fall fireplace decor, I found inspiration in a couple of items including my favorite fall throw blanket. The colors are rich and warm and make me think of roasting s’mores next to a fire pit. I used it as a sort of table runner on the coffee table in the living room.

Another item I drew inspiration from was this pretty pottery bowl. There’s something about the earthiness of pottery that calls out to me these days. I’ve actually been taking a pottery class at our local art center and have made some nice pieces, but not this one.

My youngest daughter found it at a local shop that was going out of business and we got it for $4. Isn’t that a steal?? Anyway, I’ve been loving blue lately and wanted to incorporate this into our fall decor.

If you follow me on instagram then you know that I was in Austin, Texas earlier this month to help our oldest daughter move there for her new job. We stayed several days and I got to visit a couple of places I’ve wanted to see, including one in LaGrange called Old World Antieks. I bought this large blue demijohn in a crate and wanted to use it on our hearth.

On the drive back home from Austin, my husband took me to the Magnolia Silos to help cheer me up. Needless to say, I was pretty sad about leaving our daughter behind where she’ll be more than 1,000 miles away from us. But she’s very excited about her new job and life there so I’m happy about that.

The interstate goes right through Waco so it was an easy stop. I fell in love with and bought a few of these pretty sienna eucalyptus branches, along with a few other goodies. I love the subtle but rich hue of the leaves. They’re perfect for fall so I stuck some into the demijohn and added some to the mantel as well.

Mixing dried and faux florals

Using flowers in our decor is something I love to do, especially hydrangeas.

These dried ones had various shades of blue that blend with the other blue items I’m using in here. Have you ever dried hydrangeas? It’s so easy! You can see how I dry mine here → How to dry hydrangea blossoms.

I used them in the center and then added faux sunflowers, rice stems, berry sprays, and some of the sienna eucalyptus.

The reproduction vintage ceiling tiles on the wall are from my shop and have been up here since the spring. The candle lanterns and wood bead garlands are also from my shop and add some balance and finish off the mantel.

An old chippy corbel and a rusty section of gate add some character to the hearth.

Here’s a peek into the dining area where you can get a glimpse of my fall decor in there. I’ll be sharing a fall tablescape soon so stay tuned for that.

  1. I have been looking forward to seeing your fall mantel and as always, you didn't disappoint. I love how you used dried florals on your mantel this year accented with the wooden beads. Your fireplace hearth looks great with your new blue demijohn in a crate, blanket scarf, and pumpkins. I know you hated to leave your daughter in a big city so far away from home but at least you now have a great place to visit. Lucky you for getting to go to Waco. I'd love to do that someday. Thanks for hosting the tour this week. I'm looking forward to reading the posts each morning over coffee.
