Simple Spring Mantel with Milk Glass Vases and Daffodils

My spring living room mantel decor is so simple and thrifty and it might just
be my favorite ever. I put this together using only things I already had, plus
a few colorful flowers picked from the yard. Zero investment and minimal
effort is always a good thing, amiright?

I’ve been craving simplicity lately and didn’t want anything too cluttered or
busy on the mantel. And I’m also trying not to expand my stash of home decor
items since it’s already too big. So I was happy to use these thrifted
white milk glass vases
that I’ve had for a while.

You can often find these at thrift stores, yard sales, estate sales, etc. (see
my tips for shopping at estate sales here:
How to shop estate sales like a pro). I’ve been collecting them for years and have a variety of shapes and
sizes. FYI, they’re also plentiful and affordable on etsy here:

I picked some daffodils and Lenten roses from the yard to use in my thrifted
vases. Here’s how I arranged them:

  1. I placed the 5 taller vases in order based on their size and design. I
knew I wanted the tallest one in the middle and the shortest ones on the
    ends.
  2. The flowers with the longer stems went in the middle vase and the shortest
ones were placed in the end vases. I added multiple stems to each vase as
    filler.
  3. I added the shorter vases with the Lenten roses for more variation in
    color and height.
  4. Each vase was spaced about 2″ – 3″ apart.

Easy, thrifty, and pretty. What’s not to love?

I know the flowers will fade pretty quickly and actually might get moved
outside to the deck before that (thanks, allergies). But for now they look so
pretty in the family room and add a fun pop of color.
